DONT buy FIFA 2004!!!

Why FIFA 2004 has such a BAD online service!

I got FIFA on Friday and I was very impressed, Ive even got a match online and I was a very happy man, then things went downhill fast!!

Having read all through the EA tech support pages Ive learnt why! The classic "can not connect" error message is caused when ur PS2 can not conect to the other players PS2. FIFA uses a peer to peer connection, which mean, unlike SOCOM, ur PS2s connect straight to eachother rather than being hosted on a server. Now call me pessimistic but I believe EA have cut a huge corner in an effort to save the cash it would have costed to impliment these servers! This isnt just EAs fault! If u search EA support under XBOX there is nothing about online problems! Could this be because you Live subsciption pays for EAs servers? I tell you, XBOX is calling me right now!! Sony havent implimented a proper online network and its starting to show!

So to get a bit more technical, ur PS2 needs to have a public IP. This means its either not behind a router but directly connected to the internet (impossible with BT) or you have to call your ISP to arrange a public IP! EA would have known this and known the problems it was gunna cause! But when you've got all this sorted, you still gotta find another player online who has got it all sorted else chances are it still wont work!!

To cut a long story short, my copy of FIFA will be sent back! I paid for an online game and got frustration and wasted time! I am no longer a very happy man! (until I get back on socom! )

there is a real desire amongst other PS2 online players of SOCOM for other good online games. i asked a couple of people on socom if they had played FIFA online, and they pretty much all said that i was not worth the money and they were all going to stick to pro-evo.

but let me get this straight.... the PS2 version of fifa has dificulty conecting and maintaining a conection with other players cosoles... basically making the games lag alot, and then boot you????

as far as i know the X-Box version of FIFA is NOT online capable, so i guess there were never going to be any complaints about that.

Hmmm.... i hoping that sony will really get there online stuff in gear.... i apreciate that X-box have been in the game a little longer, but i refuse to give any of my money to mister Gates... sony should really pull their finger out, but i'm sure that they will get it together.

one of the nice things about sony, is that they have never really beeen facist about quality control.... i think that EA are to blame for a poor game and not sony, and they (EA) seem to have really scored an own-goal (sorry) with a substandard online game.... they should know that every one who buys this game has SOCOM for there network adaptor.... and have highe expectations to reach. lets see how EA do with Medal of Honer.
