Less than 2 months till the US release, which means less than 2 months until I'm playing it. :lol: :mrgreen: :bootyshake :boldred :bounce :pinkie

Some of the confirmed features are:

Overall:
* "Iris Effect" (walking from dark areas to light areas and vice versa causing a change in brightness).
* Several new Weapon Classes (accessable online): Rocket Launchers, AP mines (pressure/remote), and shotguns (from pump to full-auto).
* Reload/Fire-mode issue addressed.
* Instant "drop-down" command by holding the stance button.
* Voice actors include bigger names (such as Michael Clarke Duncan).
* Enhanced visual mapping and texturing (even the online maps got a touch-up).

Single Player:
* Vastly Improved Ally/Enemy A.I. (some of it modeled after SOCOM online Gamers' strategies).
* Boomer's been fired.
* Several new voice commands (overwatch for example), and up to ten secret commands.
* British SAS and Russian Spetznaz will tag along on some missions.
* Efforts in a mission affect future missions, change enemy rosters, and alter enemy A.I. in such missions.
* 12 missions in Albania, Algeria, Brazil, Russia, one being at sea.
* 40 unique new characters.
* Take on various vehicles, including a plane and tank (thank god for RPGs).

Online: :mrgreen: :jammin
* LAN Support.
* Voice Masking (as in altering your voice) and muting (yay, no more annoying brats!)
* Name display for who's talking.
* Victory dances (flips, breakdancing, and... yes.. I mean this... the Macarena).
* Turrets (some with thermals).
* GLs allowed (all propelled grenades will have a short delay from fire to arming to prevent short-range hits).
* Impoved anti-hacking measures.
* Custom loadouts (armory setups) for each map.
* Female character models.
* Spectator mode (max: .
* Improved "Rank" ranking system, keeping veteran players from facing off with newbies, and more information tracked.
* Friends/Ignore lists.
* Two new modes (Breach and escort - from what I gathered the breach mode will allow air-strikes).
* Weapon list editing (i.e. snipers only, hg's only, etc) and respawning option for supression games (yes, this was stated).
* Enhanced original 10 maps and 12 additional new maps.
* Voice chat in pre-game lobbies.

yea, i cant wait to see these airstrikes, from what i understand the person that calls in the 'airstrike' will have to stay in a little room away from all the action, so that he has to rely on information from recon players.

if you check both UK and USA amazon sites, you will see the release dates are simular
http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0000A1P58/ref=sr_aps_videogames_1_2/026-3648985-7956411

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B000099T2H/qid=1063131798/sr=8-1/ref=sr_8_1/102-1426516-6142565?v=glance&s=videogames&n=507846

my big hope is that the online game will pit European and American players against each other. I have no information weather this will be so.
But im hoping
:)

alas musch of the talk on central station puts the release of socom 2 around the ist quater of 2004. i would rather it was the date that Amazon.co.uk has, but i dont put it past them to sugest an earlyer date so they can squeeze advance orders out of people.

although i have been hearing some intresting stuff about the Hard Drive and the ability to download extra stuff for socom 2.
