Footage from the US beta trial has started to leak out and I gotta say Socom II looks just as good as it was hyped up to be.
The Beta trialists only have 7 of the new maps to play, and don't have access to the remaining new maps or the revamped Socom1 maps.
Oh and it has a respawn option, which sounds cool.
Anyhow these videos are quite large, but believe me they are worth the wait to download 8) , just leave them running overnight or something  , but make sure you download them
Video 1 - A Montage of Socom II (32mb)
A montage of clips made by a beta tester, even with an accompanying backing track

Video 2 - New Map Foxhunt (16mb)
One of the new maps Foxhunt which is also a new gametype called Escort where the seals have to escort the VIPs to a location whilst the Terrs just have to kill the VIPs

Video 3 - New Map Vigilante (11mb)
Another of the new maps, this time a normal Suppression map.

Hi
yea, i was very excited by it. i mean it is exactly what you wnat from the game, just more maps to take online, and the old ones with the glitches taken out of them.
but it was totally weird to see new maps, remember when you first got the game and you felt 'jesus why sis they have to make the maps so complicated, im lost in these dumb tunnels *BANG* now i'm dead'. i felt like that, really relt weird to watch a familiar game where i was lost again. but i'm actually looking forward to that feeling.
the only thing that i have reservations about if the 'body poping/break dancing' moves at the end of the rond. i think that it may well become really tedious to watch kids do that every couple of minuets....and it will soon become 'Hackneyed' and 'outre'. had i been the programer i would have saved a couple of these moves (not the 'back flip' that i saw) only for the players that kill more than 3 or 4 in a round. you know so that kids arnt tediously doing it all the time.
apart from that, the thing that i would like to see in a SOCOM game. is that if you get shot and killed by shots to the body, you should still have about 4 seconds to use the comm. so when you hear the crack of the sniper rifle, you then here *bleep bleep*"he's on the middle tower... (then perhapes some ponient radio static that fades over two seconds. :)
i like the idea that you will be able to create diffrent games....such as HG,s or respawn options. but i like the socom death match best. i think an inherant penalty in dying is what make the game so dramatic and fun. if you endlessly respawned over and over it would become a rather 'grey' experience.
also the spectator mode, cant wait to check that out. i would be cool if they had some views that were only avalible to spectators such as a 'blimp view' with all names activated, but i am sure that this would cause problems in clan matches where there are teams that using msm. so prehapes that sruff should be disabled in clan matches. and a few spectators can only watch their own team.
I've said it before and i will say it again. I wish that we could access the yank servers to play them. would like to see an international socom league... or socom world cup :)
will post more idea as they come to me.
also: as far as i know, SOCOM II come out in the UK in January

Release date for UK Socom II isn't expected to be until March 2004
But believe me it is f00kin awesome and worth the wait
yea. i have to keep telling myself that GT4 and a Final Fantasy game will be there to keep me going untill then. oh well, maybe MOH will be pretty good online also?
